Our truck of the month for May just might look familiar to our die hard GEAR JAMMER Magazine subscribers. This 2015 Peterbilt 389 glider, owned by Tasha Trucking, graced the cover of our first ever issue of GEAR JAMMER Magazine back in July of 2016. We think it’s worth checking out again as you’ll quickly see from our photographs. The 282″ wheelbase is decked out with custom features from the 22″ front bumper all the way back to the rear light bar. The truck also features a painted drop visor, 8″ straight pipes, a custom deck plate, and smooth air cleaners. The striking paint combo of Ford Mustang grey and black is accented by some incredible pin striping and gold leaf lettering, all done by hand by Karen Souza of Cranberry Signcraft. Mike Tasha founded Tasha Trucking back in 1974 and their outstanding fleet is a familiar sight on the roads of Cape Cod, MA and all of New England. Mike ordered this glider as a project for himself and his son Hurst. They actually removed the cab & sleeper, and slid back the chassis, repainting it the correct way to survive the harsh New England Winters. Sadly, Mike Tasha passed away unexpectedly just after the double hump fenders were installed, and he never saw the finished product.
Hurst Tasha has since taken over the company that his father started in 1974 and they are going stronger than ever. Hurst did a great job finishing the build of the truck in honor of his dad. Hurst wanted to thank Chris Shaw, Mitch, and Frankie Monteiro for all of their help. The Tasha fleet is always on point while delivering boat fuel to the Cape, the Islands, and beyond. Hooked to the polished 2001 Heil tanker seen in our photos, this is one fabulous fuel hauler! The Tasha family holds a truck show in honor of Mike Tasha each year, donating all of the show proceeds to ALS ONE for those suffering from the debilitating disease known as ALS. One thing’s for certain, Mike Tasha is definitely smiling every time this truck rolls out of the company garage in his honor, and he might as well be riding shotgun in the passenger seat.
